ECO-NEWS:- Ordered a Invertor so I can run the Netbook of a battery for field days, and at home toohome too which is my aim anyway

How are you charging the battery? invertors are only abotu 80% efficient so if you are charging from mains, you're not going to gain anything...

nods, I am using the big solar panel, one of my friends is talking to EDF to see if we can get a mini wind turbine from them for nothing as they are sponsors of some of the event :)

Wind is cool. You must have one hell of a solar panel if it'll run a laptop. I have a half metre panel and its not even close (10W ish comapred to 22 for the laptop itself).

Unless somethings changed though PV solar is still not green. Wind should yield greater energy today, although it can be a little unpredictable.

Im hoping to build myself a small wind generator soon. I'll let you know how that project goes.

Its a 40w PV and it was free so.. also its not running the laptop but the netbook in reduced power mode, as its only got to handle logging, no networking etc. plus we're going to get another 40w panel from Boshe who are now manufacturing flexable PV's which again as its going to be free it should do the job.
